DELHI, N.Y. (September 22, 2021) - The SUNY Delhi softball team is off and running this year with fall practice, as this group of 20 Broncos are set to continue their greatness and perseverance shown over the last several seasons. Fourth-year head coach Meagan Stone has guided SUNY Delhi through many rigors and challenges to put the softball program on the map during the team's transition to NCAA Division III, with many goals met last season with a 12-8 record and a berth in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament. The team looks to continue that trend entering their first year as full-time NCAA members, with a NAC championship offering them an opportunity at the NCAA National Tournament.

Broncos Softball invites you to help in their championship pursuit! The team is leading off this fall with a campaign to fund their spring break trip to Florida, a trip they previously made in 2020 that featured eight games over four days. This experience was very memorable for the student-athletes and their families, sparking a desire to continue this trip annually. A trip to Florida in early March offers the Broncos an advantage to break away from the late-winter conditions in Upstate New York and start their season earlier. It also presents the unique opportunity to compete against colleges from around the country for a deeper understanding of the sport. CLICK HERE TO VIEW OUR 2020 FLORIDA TRIP PHOTO GALLERY!

A Letter from the Coach:

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope this letter finds you healthy and safe. My name is Meagan Stone and I am the Head Softball Coach at SUNY Delhi. In that role, I strive to give our student-athletes an experience that they will cherish for the rest of their lives, both on and off the softball diamond.

The 2020 season was stopped in its tracks due to COVID-19 and our 2021 season was successful but very different. Our student athletes had to persevere through numerous setbacks to be able to end the season with a 12-8 record. We started the season with a 6-0 record, winning our first home series in my time at SUNY Delhi. The 12-8 record we finished with is the first winning record in 9 years and only the fourth overall in school history. Even with all of these successes, our student athletes were unable to compete in a full season. In order to be able to give them an experience that makes up for the last two years, I need your help!

This year as full NCAA members, we are planning to participate in a Spring Training trip to Fort Myers, FL to play in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic. I personally played in and coached in this tournament and couldn't ask for a better experience in the 7 years of competition I experienced there. I want to be able to give this same experience to our athletes but I need your help! We are currently fundraising. Every donation, large or small, is greatly appreciated. I would ask that all gifts be submitted by December 3rd, 2021. This will give us the opportunity to provide our athletes with a properly planned Spring Training Trip.

Please consider the request to provide our student athletes a positive experience in return for all of their work on the field and in the classroom. I was a collegiate softball player and I can still remember all of the fun memories that were made with my teammates. We greatly appreciate your generosity as well as your involvement!

We sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Take Care,

Meagan Stone
