Broncos Edge Hornets, Earn Spot In NAC Championship Match

Dehi, NY (April 20, 2024) - The Delhi tennis team concludes their NAC regular season matches, sweeping the weekend with a 5-4 win over VTSU - Lyndon in another tight contested match.

Benjamin Andersen and Moises Saintil would fall at the one doubles spot 8-6. Second pair Devin Guerrieri and Hannah Shafer claimed the victory with a 8-6 result. In the third spot, Jack Madera and J.T Maccarrone cruised to a 8-3 finish.

Going into the singles match up 2-1, the hornets shortly pulled ahead. Benjamin Andersen and Devin Guerrieri would give up one and two singles 7-1, 1-6, (10-7) and 6-2, 6-2. Down 3-2, Moises Saintil went the distance to secure the point at third singles 6-4, 6-4, (11-9) to tie the match 3-3. J.T Maccarrone would drop fourth singles 6-4, 4-6, (10-7) giving the Hornets the 4-3 advantage. At the fifth spot Shafer rallied her way to victory 5-7, 6-1, (10-5) once again tying the Broncos and Hornets at four even. The winning point came from Jack Madera at sixth singles with a 6-2, 7-5 victory.

With the win the Broncos finish 5-5 on the season and 5-2 in conference play.
