Broncos Take NAC Title For First Time in Program HIstory!

DELHI, NY (April 30, 2022) – Thomas College traveled to SUNY Delhi for the 2022 North Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Championship.  The teams matchup for the third weekend in a row with the previous two showdowns splitting, both is 6-3 scores.  With both teams coming into the Championship at 5-1 in the conference, the rubber match between them is set to determine the conference title.

The Broncos got out to an early advantage taking the doubles matches 2-1.  Delhi took victories at number one and three doubles to leave that portion of the match with the lead for the first time in the three matchups.

In the singles competition, Jarrod Rackliffe continued his unbeaten streak in the NAC making it two years without a loss winning with scores of 6-1, 6-2.  In the number two singles slot, Thomas College's  Gabe McPhail took the victory over Delhi's Christopher Balogh by the same scores.

The next match to finish was the number four singles where Delhi's Ryoto Yoshinaga won 6-4, 6-0 over Thomas College's Rajhan Munnings.  This set up a potentially decisive match at number three singles which also proved to be the only matchup to go three sets.  Liam Gould of Thomas College was facing off with Tyler Kemble of SUNY Delhi and took the first set 7-6 in a tiebreak.  However, Kemble battled back to take set two 6-3 and finished the match winning the third set 6-1 to seal the victory for the Broncos.

Thomas and Delhi split the remaining two matches at number five and six singles. Thomas Colleges Kegan Rodrigue won at number five singles 6-1, 7-6 and Delhi's Daniel Distasio won at number six singles 6-0, 6-3.

Jarrod Rackliffe of Delhi was recognized as the MVP of the match.  Delhi will now move on to play against the team champions from the United East Conference next Sunday in Latham, NY at 12 noon with a bid to the NCAA Championships on the line.
