Men's Soccer Secures Co-Defensive and Rookie of the Year Awards along with Five Team Selections

Following the 2023 men's soccer season, seven athletes have been honored with North Atlantic Conference team selections.  

Rookie of the Year | First Team All-NAC | Freshman| Monticello, NY 

In his first year, Roberto Velasquez-Osorio had a remarkable season for the green and gold men's soccer team. He achieved the second-highest goal total in NCAA Division III with 23 goals, setting a new record for the highest number of goals scored by a Bronco in a single regular NCAA season. Velasquez-Osorio also led the NAC in goals (23), total points (50), and game-winning goals (5). He ranked as the third-highest scorer in Division III with 51 points before adding another goal in the NAC playoffs. 

Co-Defensive Player of the Year | First Team All-NAC | Sophomore | West Babylon, NY 

Sophomore center-back Bottex played a pivotal role in anchoring the backline, which allowed just five goals in eight NAC games, resulting in an opponent average of 0.63 goals per game. As the primary center back, he also led the defensive unit that conceded just eight goals in 16 games, which ranked them fifth in all of the NCAA Division III. Bottex started all 16 contests this season and secured his second NAC season selection, following a second-team All-NAC Conference selection in 2022. 

Jon Walch 

First Team All-NAC | Senior | Brewster, NY 

Senior captain Jon Walch was the cornerstone of the Delhi defense, allowing just five goals in eight conference games, resulting in an opponent average of 0.63 goals per game. In his 16 matches, Walch led the NAC with a remarkable 0.635 goals-against average, achieving five shutouts (including 2 in NAC) and making 42 saves for an average of 2.80 per game (with 18 saves in NAC, averaging 2.57 per game) 

Second Team All-NAC | Senior | Staten Island, NY 

Kleczkowski played a significant role in both the midfield and defense for the Broncos all season, contributing five assists and one goal. In the backline, he helped the team allow just five goals in eight conference games, with an opponent average of 0.63 goals per game. He was also a vital part of the defensive unit that allowed only eight goals in 16 games, resulting in an opponent average of 0.50 goals per game. Kleczkowski started and played in all 16 games, following his second-team All-NAC Conference selection in 2022. 

Third Team All-NAC | Freshman | Hempstead, NY 

Joining the team halfway through the year, Williams ranked fourth in the conference in total goals, scoring 6. He also secured 4th place in both assists and total points, with 4 assists and 16 points, maintaining a 2.29 points per game average in the NAC. Williams proved to be a dynamic player in the attack, achieving a 2.11 points per game in the conference. Additionally, he scored once and provided an assist on a goal during the NAC playoffs. 

Third Team All-NAC | Sophomore | Franklin, NY 

Matt Serrao played a pivotal role in the strong backline that allowed just five goals in eight conference games, resulting in an opponent average of 0.63 goals per game. He was also a key contributor to an attack that scored 38 goals in conference play, ranking 3rd in scoring in Division III. Serrao started all 16 games this fall and made significant contributions with 2 goals and 4 assists, totaling 8 points. 

Sportsmanship Team | Sophomore | East Islip, NY 

John Walsh, a constant leader on the backline, started all 18 matches for the Broncos at left-back. He played a significant role in the Delhi defense, allowing just five goals in eight NAC games and eight goals in 16 total matches. Walsh contributed with one assist throughout the season.
