SUNY Delhi Men's Golf 2023 Season Preview

SUNY Delhi men's golf 2023 season is almost underway with the first action less than a week away. Led by head coach Dave Areheart, in charge for 27 seasons, and assistant coach Joe Burgin, the Broncos will host two events and travel to seven more. They will look to improve on last year's third-place finish in the North Atlantic Championships, thanks to a mix of experienced players and enthusiastic newcomers.

"Our goal will always be to win the NAC Championship," said head coach Dave Arehart, "Last season we came up short, but the group played with conviction and high effort. Our expectations are high again for 2023-2024."

The group has nine returning players, including senior Thomas Christoffersen, who was just one stroke shy from becoming the individual NAC Champion last year. He had an excellent 2022-23 season, consistently leading the team with multiple top-place finishes throughout the year.

Christoffersen will be accompanied by seniors John Williamson and Jordan Starley, who had impressive performances in both the fall and spring seasons; they will also be aiming to compete for podium positions.

"The individual players have been working hard to reach our team goals. The seniors in particular have assumed leadership roles, and that energy promises to translate into a successful season." said Arehart.

The robust returning unit is joined by six new team members who are seeking to secure their spots and contribute to the team's progress.

Delhi starts their year by hosting their first two events, playing on Friday and Saturday, September 1st and 2nd, before traveling for the rest of the year. The NAC Championship will take place on October 7 & 8 in Canton, NY.

The Broncos have an exciting fall schedule, including matchups against strong NCAA national-level programs at Shenandoah University's Invitational in Winchester, VA, and at Farmingdale's Invitational, which will be hosted at Bethpage State Park Red Course.
