Delhi finishes second at NAC Championships; Freshman Noah Tyler ties for top individual spot

Canton, NY – Delhi Men's Golf concluded the two-day North Atlantic Championships over a weathered weekend, securing second place as a team with a score of 609 (299, 310) on a par 72, 6,569-yard course. Freshman Noah Tyler and senior Thomas Christoffersen both earned medalist honors, with Tyler tying for the top spot and Christoffersen tying for third.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Freshman Noah Tyler (Fort Edward, NY) wrapped up an incredible weekend, tying for the top medalist spot after he carded a 149 (+5) over the two days. After ending with a 70 (-2) on day one he wrapped up with a 79 (+7) for his first ever conference championship.

  • With the top finish, Tyler secured the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year award and a selection to the First Team All-Conference.

  • Senior Thomas Christoffersen (Binghamton, NY) would be the next Bronco, finishing his weekend in a tie for the third medalist spot with a combined score of 152 (+8). He carded a 75 (+3) in round one and 77 (+5) in the second to be awarded his second consecutive First Team All-NAC honor.

  • Freshman John Souva (Nanuet, NY) also had a great weekend in his NAC Championship debut, finishing in a tie for seventh with a 156 (+12). Souva's top 11 finish out of the field of 55 would be good enough for him to land a selection to the Second Team All-Conference.

  • Freshman Ben Swartz (Hudson Falls, NY) and senior Jordan Starley (Windsor, NY) wrapped up the scoring for Delhi, placing in a respectable 14th and 21st place out of a field of 55, respectively. Over the two days, Swartz carded a 164 (+20) in his first conference tournament while Starley finished with a 168 (+24).

COMMENTS FROM COACH AREHART:

"The team battled hard through really tough conditions. Noah played smart and steady and is a very deserving champion. Tom played terrific as well. He and Jordan have shown senior leadership all season long. We came up a bit short, but the future is bright."
