Delhi, NY – Delhi Men's Basketball hosted Merchant Marine in a late game on Tuesday night and were defeated 69-61, despite four Broncos reaching double figures in scoring. The loss at Floyd L. Maines Arena marks the first home loss for Delhi since February 19th, 2022, snapping their 15-game home win streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Mariners took an early 11-3 lead in the first five minutes, but Delhi steadily chipped away and secured their first lead of the night with nine minutes to go.

The remainder of the half saw a back-and-forth battle until the green and gold finished on a 12-1 run, heading into the break with a 33-27 lead.

Senior Marven Louissaint (Brooklyn, NY) continued his impressive performance from the last game, leading the team with 11 points and four rebounds. The Broncos, hitting five three-pointers compared to the Mariners' zero, went into the break with their largest lead of the night.

Merchant Marine eventually took over the lead four minutes into the second half, stretching it out to as much as 13.

With just four minutes remaining, Delhi trailed 60-50 before staging a magical run to retake the lead. They went on an 11-0 burst fueled by incredible defense from Louissaint and junior Lester McCarthy (Dobbs Ferry, NY), who combined for three steals and seven points directly from the Mariners' inbound passes.

However, the Broncos could not capitalize on the momentum shift, as that was the last bucket they got to go, being outscored 9-0 in the last two minutes.

Delhi had four scorers reach double figures, with Louissaint recording a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while adding four steals and three assists. McCarthy ended his night with five steals, 10 points and six rebounds.
