Delhi disarms the Engineers defeating RPI 62-43 in home opener

Delhi, NY – Men's Basketball hosted RPI for their 2023/24 season home opener and defeated the Engineers 62-43 in a low scoring affair. This win marks the program's first win over RPI in four contests between the two, dating back to 2019.  

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Delhi started off hot, gaining a 17-7 lead and holding it through the half. They went into the break up 29-20 as the Broncos continued to shoot the ball well, going 50% (13/26) from the field as a team. 

  • Seniors Marven Louissaint (Brooklyn, NY) and junior Fauzi Cizmesija-Ulmer (Manhattan, NY) led the team, scoring 17 of their 29 first-half points. 

  • After the break, the Broncos broke loose, extending their lead to as much as 23. They held the Engineers to their lowest point total this season, forcing 14 turnovers with seven steals and two blocks. 

  • The green and gold shot 53.1% (26/49) from the field while making five threes. Louissaint ended with his season-high and team-high 14 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Junior Lester McCarthy (Dobbs Ferry, NY) added 10 points, shooting 50% (3/6) from the field and 40% from deep (2/5).
