MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (December 16, 2018) – An opening 12-0 run sent the SUNY Delhi men's basketball team into catch-up mode for most of Saturday's games at Morrisville State. While the Broncos utilized several bursts to get back in the game, they were unable to overtake the Mustangs' stranglehold on the lead, falling by a 94-88 score. Head coach Zack Thomsen's squad sits at 5-6 on the year.

Though Delhi had more players score in double figures with five, led by Justin Daoud with 18 points off the bench with six rebounds and five assists, Morrisville State's foursome that matched them were led by an outstanding performance from Kevin Dennis. The junior forward racked up 31 points and 19 rebounds, making 13-of-15 from the floor. And while the Broncos made 15-of-24 3-pointers to the Mustangs' 7-of-24, Morrisville State found the free throw line more often, connecting on 21-of-36 free throws to Delhi's 5-of-11.

Soon after finding themselves in an early 12-point hole, the Broncos countered with a 14-5 run to get to within one possession at 17-14 with 14:28 left before the half. They would close the gap to as little as three points three more times, but each time the Mustangs would regain some distance, even stretching their lead to as far as 15 points at 73-58 with 6:34 left in the game. But even that did not keep Delhi from yet another rally to make the score 90-86 with 23 seconds remaining. Morrisville State, however, would make all four subsequent free throws to close things out.

Four of the Broncos' double-digit scorers Saturday came off the bench, as the team held a staggering 57-15 lead in bench points. The bench also featured Carlos Ithier, who was second on the team in scoring with 15 points, making a game-best 5-of-8 3-pointers. Norman Wilson gathered 14 points, while Payton Dean had ten points and seven rebounds off the pine. Starter William Knight finished with 12 points, as Jordan Fragale tallied seven points with 11 assists and Mavenson Therneus eight points with six rebounds. Saquan Goland charted four points with seven boards.

Delhi has one more contest before winter break, traveling to take on Green Mountain on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
