DELHI, N.Y. (March 9, 2021) - The SUNY Delhi Athletics Broncos of the Week takes on a new meaning! We are excited to collaborate with our community to highlight our local student-athletes, and turning to our Broncos who have excelled academically. Each week we will showcase our Broncos through "Nate Lull's Local Look" and our "Scholar Athlete Student Spotlight."

Nate Lull's Local Look: Justine Lubbers, Women's Basketball (East Meredith, NY / Charlotte Valley Central)

WCDO Sports Director Nate Lull is based in Sidney, NY and reports on high school sports in the counties that surround SUNY Delhi. Many of the athletes Nate covers continue their sports careers by joining the Bronco family. Each week Nate will highlight a local player he covered in high school who is now in college at Delhi.

This week Nate has selected Justine Lubbers from Women's Basketball. Justine is a native of East Meredith, NY.

Nate says: "Justine was a standout 3-sport athlete at nearby Charlotte Valley Central School in Davenport, NY. She was a team leader and near the top of the local leaderboard in several statistical categories regardless of the sport. Justine really stood out on the basketball floor where she played for legendary local coach, Ray Preston. I had her on my AAU travel team (the CNY Armadillos!) and she helped us to many strong showings in tournaments across the state. I was impressed with her opening year with the Broncos, and I think the future is very bright for her on the court."

Check back next week for another one of Nate's picks!

Scholar Athlete Student Spotlight: Anthony Cuellar, Men's Soccer (Liberty, NY / Liberty Central)

Since sophomore Anthony Cuellar joined the men's soccer last year he has made an immediate impact both on and off the field. He is willing to put in the work to become an excellent player and even better student. He has always led by example and every day he comes to practice or just to swing by the office he is smiling, engaging other athletes, and always willing to put 100% of his effort into what he is doing. It is a pleasure having him on the team and watching what he can accomplish. Cuellar majors in Electrical Construction & Plumbing, harboring the highest GPA among returning men's soccer student-athletes at SUNY Delhi. He was recently recognized to the NAC Fall All-Academic Team.
