DELHI, N.Y. (December 29, 2020) – While this fall semester was anything but ordinary, our student-athletes have shown outstanding character, resilience, and leadership during their practice seasons. SUNY Delhi Athletics is proud to celebrate our Broncos of the Week each Tuesday by recognizing our talented and committed students, who despite the absence of competition demonstrated superb qualities on behalf of their team, the college, and their program of study.

Hailey Gundersen (Middletown, NY / Pine Bush), Women's Tennis

From Head Coach Mark Birman:

"Sophomore Hailey Gundersen took to her new role as Captain like she was born with the 'C' on her chest. The returning women's number one continued displaying her leadership skills and on-court work ethic during the men and women's combined practice schedule this Fall. Hailey's calm, positive and upbeat persona belies a fierce competitive spirit ultimately translating not only to her on-court success, but to her classroom success as well. A Dean's List student, she has had a perfect 4.0 GPA in three of her four semesters on campus. Hailey is ideally emblematic of the present and future SUNY Delhi Tennis Athlete. We look forward to a big year for her come spring competition."

Mavenson Therneus (Spring Valley, NY / Spring Valley). Men's Basketball

From Head Coach Zack Thomsen:

"Mavenson has improved tremendously since arriving at Delhi three yeas ago. This year was no exception despite the obviously very difficult circumstances. He has really grown as a leader, and has helped our younger guys to become comfortable in our system. He brought a great attitude and level of intensity to each of our fall workouts and practices."
