BRONCOS OF THE WEEK (11/24): Marissa Kupris, Jon Walch

DELHI, N.Y. (November 24, 2020) – While this fall semester has been anything but ordinary, our student-athletes have shown outstanding character, resilience, and leadership during their practice seasons. SUNY Delhi Athletics is proud to reintroduce our Broncos of the Week by recognizing our talented and committed students, who despite the absence of competition demonstrated superb qualities on behalf of their team and the college.

Jon Walch, Men's Soccer

From Head Coach Brian Mitko:

"A second year player and only goalie that was able to train this fall, Jon was able to start filling the leadership our role needed. Both in practice and out of practice Jon has managed to help the team create a culture that has been unprecedented before. He is also pushing the team in practice by pushing himself. He has asked every day what he should be working on and is willing to train on those cold rainy days. Being the only goal keeper in training is never easy, and he welcomed the challenge with open arms barely missing any reps. By bringing this higher standard for himself he has helped the entire team raise their standard as well."

Marissa Kupris, Women's Basketball

From Head Coach Lauren McRoberts:

"A freshman who never missed a workout, Marissa worked incredibly hard for seven weeks from conditioning to on-court skill work. With the basketball program consisting of a very young squad, she has the work ethic and determination which has set the precedent of where the program will be heading in the future. Dedicated and invested, Marissa was a sponge for information, asked questions and put in the time and dedication in order to not only reach her goals but reach the vision of the women's basketball program as well. I am very hopeful for the future and cannot wait to get the players laced up and competing in 2021."
