SUNY Delhi Finishes Second in 2019-20 USCAA Director's Cup

USCAA DIRECTOR'S CUP STANDINGS

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (April 14, 2020) – The SUNY Delhi Athletics Department celebrated a second-place finish in the 2019-20 USCAA Director's Cup for their highest-ever finish. The Broncos tallied 451 points after great performances during the fall and winter seasons, trailing only St. Mary of the Woods, who won its second consecutive cup with 476 points.

The Director's Cup standings consist of results from the 2019 Fall Championship Week, 2020 USCAA Basketball National Championships in addition to points for 2019 National Convention attendance and sport offerings. Due to COVID-19, Division I basketball points were awarded based on regular season finish and no points were awarded this year for spring championships which were cancelled.

The Broncos men's cross country team captured their fourth consecutive USCAA national championship in November, with Abshir Yerow winning the individual national title to lead a pack of six Delhi All-Americans: First Team finishers Lucas Reilly, Seth Bywater, and Bladimir Pena, along with Second Team earners Aaron Vivlamore and Aidan Cutting. The women's cross country team finished third nationally for the second straight year, with Arielle Moheimani and Katerina Salcedo picking up First Team All-American honors and Sophie Stewart capturing Second Team All-American. The men's golf team finished second at USCAA's for the second straight year in October, as four Broncos earned First Team All-American.

The soccer and volleyball programs added to SUNY Delhi's strong USCAA fall season with numerous All-American selections. Women's soccer totaled four USCAA All-Americans, as Kelsey Innes took in First Team honors, Alexa DuBois and Micayla Slattery earned Second Team, and Alexa Scaglione received Honorable Mention. Men's soccer earned three USCAA All-Americans with Second Team recipient Brody Rettle and Honorable Mentions Corey O'Toole and Juan Velez. Women's volleyball roped in three All-Americans, featuring Erica Prindle and Witchney Clersainville on the First Team and Taylor Tsatsis an Honorable Mention.

The SUNY Delhi men's basketball team qualified for their first-ever USCAA National Tournament in March, winning their first-round matchup with Holy Family before the tournament was prematurely cancelled. Jordan Fragale was named First Team All-American, earning his third All-American selection of his career, while Justin Daoud earned a nod to the Second Team and Mavenson Therneus an Honorable Mention. Women's basketball's Samiaya Salley earned USCAA All-American Second Team, finishing her distinguished Broncos career earning three USCAA All-American selections.
