Broncos of the Week 2/8-2/14

Delhi, NY - It was an amazing week in Delhi Athletics this week with exciting rivalry wins in basketball and some unreal performances from the track and field team.  This weeks Bronco of the Week honors highlights two members of the track and field team that traveled to Boston University to compete in one the largest colegiate invitationals in the country with loads of division I, II and III powerhouses in attendance.

Joshua Jeffes

Senior | Scotia, NY | Men's Track & Field

Senior Joshua Jeffes has been re-writing SUNY Delhi's track and field record books since he arrived on campus.  As a freshman, he won the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championship in the 400 meters outdoors.  As a sophmore, he became SUNY Delhi's first ever NCAA All-American in the indoor 400 meter race.  He holds Delhi school records indoors for both flat and banked tracks in the 200, 300 and 400 meter distances as well as the 400 meters outdoors.  However, this weekend he went to a whole new level.  Racing in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Jeffes won the men's 400 meters topping a field of 213 athletes.  Jeffes shattered his own school record for a banked track by over a second, running 47.05 seconds.  That time ranks Jeffes at the third fastest indoor 400 meter man in NCAA division III history.

Kadie-Ann Whyte

Senior | Schenectady, NY | Women's Track & Field

Senior Kadie-Ann Whyte also made the trek to Boston for her own race this weekend.  Whyte appeared in the women's 200 meters, where she ran a huge season best.  Whyte, who ran 27.94 on January 20th then dropped to 27.41 on February 3rd.  This weekend, she sped to a time of 26.64 seconds getting her back under 27 seconds for the first time this year and setting the tone for the bug things coming in the next few weeks.  Whyte is rounding back into the form that ranks her as the fifth in program history with her 26.36 second run from the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championships in 2022.

While Jeffes and Whyte will get a break this weekend, the majority of the track and field team will be in action again on Saturday at Cornell University.
