Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

As the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), it is our mission to encourage responsible behavior on and off the athletic fields, and to instill positive leadership qualities, good sportsmanship and teamwork. We will promote equity for all student-athletes and respect for both ourselves and others while conducting ourselves in a professional manner with integrity and honor.

Athletics Department Advisors: Meagan Stone effective August 2021

Purpose

SAAC serves as a vehicle for addressing and discussing concerns and issues facing student-athletes. The committee shall represent all student-athletes who participate in intercollegiate athletics. In addition, the committee will promote and celebrate student-athletes’ achievements. As a whole community, we will promote and embrace SUNY Delhi. It is recommended that this committee act as a subcommittee to the Intercollegiate Athletic Advisory Board.

Functions

The SAAC will serve as the liaison between the student-athletes of NCAA Division III member institutions and the administrators. The committee will serve as a voice to represent the concerns of all student-athletes and to discuss issues effecting student-athlete well-being, as well as the positive attributes student-athletes bring to their campus.

Committee Members

Committee members shall be appointed by the end of the spring semester (if not possible, they must be appointed by September 1). Athletes selected to serve on this committee will be nominated by their respective head coaches of their teams and will be approved by the Associate A.D.

Term

Individual committee members shall serve a minimum of two semesters and may serve more than one term. Each representative should have an alternate appointed in the event that they cannot attend. The committee encourages that student-athletes not be appointed or elected to serve solely for their senior year. All students must be in good academic standing. Officers must serve at least two semesters or until they leave school. More than one unexcused absence may result in possible removal from the committee.

Meetings: Meetings will be held monthly unless notified otherwise.
