Volleyball Swept at Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. (October 17, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team ran into a tough Elmira team in a road contest Wednesday, suffering their second straight shutout defeat as the Soaring Eagles took a 3-0 victory. Delhi's hosts from the Empire 8 won by 25-16, 25-18 and 25-16 scores as the Broncos now stand at an even 8-8 on the year entering their NAC season.

The ladies totaled 25 kills and a .076 kill percentage, while the Soaring Eagles totaled 36 kills and a .218 kill percentage. This included a first set where Elmira tallied 15 of their kills, while posting a .320 kill percentage, as Delhi charted seven and .040, respectively. Elmira also tallied 12 service aces.

Witchney Clersainville led Delhi with seven kills, and posted one block solo. Taylor Tsatsis and Bethany Feldman each had four kills, as well as Feldman, Gabriela Kralik and Shelby Nolan tying for the team lead with six digs. Erica Prindle tallied a team-best 18 assists and two total blocks, including one solo.

Head coach Beau Bracchy's team begins their inaugural NAC season this Saturday when they play Maine Maritime and Husson as hosts of their NAC quad match. The Broncos start things off playing the Maine Maritime Privateers at 10:00 a.m., and will play the final match of the day versus Husson, slated for a 4:00 p.m. start. The remaining matches feature Maine Maritime playing SUNY Canton at 12 noon, followed by Husson versus SUNY Canton at 2:00 p.m.
