Broncos Unable to Repeat Defeat

SUNY Delhi traveled to Alfred State Saturday afternoon in an attempt to extend their winning streak to five over the Pioneers. The Broncos defeated the Pioneers just over a week ago in overtime, 90-80. On this Saturday afternoon, Alfred State was celebrating senior day and had the home crowd advantage. With high energy and excitement, The Pioneers came out blazing, putting up 17 points to SUNY Delhi's 7 in the first period of play. SUNY Delhi struggled to contain Alfred State's inside game, allowing Catherine Bialecki to put away 27 points for the Pioneers. SUNY Delhi had little offensive contributions normal of the Broncos past few wins. Samiaya Salley was able to find 16 points and Sam Acuna 10 for the Broncos, but the Pioneers capitalized on the Broncos mistakes, scoring 22 points off turnovers and 18 second chance points. Furthermore, in what could have been a game changer for SUNY Delhi as it was just over a week ago at home against the Pioneers where the Broncos shot and made an impressive 32-42 free throws (76.2%), the Broncos struggled from the free throw line Saturday afternoon, shooting only 37.5% (9-24).
