Barrow Places Ninth at USA Championships

Barrow Places Ninth at USA Championships

For the first time in SUNY Delhi history, an athlete qualified for and competed in the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships.  Senior Keimon Barrow traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico to compete against the top atheltes in the country in the triple jump.

In a meet that featured two world records, Barrow placed ninth overall in the triple jump field.  After fouling his first two jumps of the competition, Barrow was down to his final attempt.  He posted his best first round mark of his career, covering 15.41 meters to move into seventh place.  He then had to watch the remainder of the field complete their first round.  The last two jumpers both surpassed his mark on their third attempts, pushing him to ninth place and keeping him from getting three more jumps in the finals.  The competition was won by Chris Carter, who represented the United States in the 2014 World Indoor Championships.

This meet ends the SUNY Delhi Indoor Track and Field season as well as marking the end of a spectacular collegiate indoor career for Barrow.  He has held the long jump record indoors and still holds the high jump and the triple jump records.  He now looks towards his last outdoor track and field season with high hopes and the expectation that competing in a meet of this caliber will help him post some huge marks this spring.
