PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. (April 14, 2019) – SUNY Delhi softball gathered their third doubleheader sweep of the season Saturday with five-inning victories at ACAA-foe Valley Forge by 21-0 and 17-3 scores. The wins capped off a busy three straight days of competition for the Broncos, who have now won eight of their last ten games for a 9-7 record and a 4-0 mark in ACAA play.

The Broncos took the Patriots for a season-best 19 hits in both games, including Mackenzie Sparacino batting a combined 7-for-7 on the day with one double and five RBIs and Sierra Keesler going 4-for-8 with eight RBIs, including a two-triple, seven-RBI performance in the nightcap. Pitchers Molly Greene and Haylee Lefebvre picked up the respective wins, with Greene allowing just three hits with four strikeouts, and Lefebvre three earned runs on seven hits with two K's. Greene has won her last six starts for a 6-3 record on the season, along with earning her second shutout.

Delhi has now claimed three doubleheader sweeps in its last five matchups. After two-win days last week over Morrisville State and ACAA-opponent Pine Manor, the Broncos split with SUNY Canton in a two-day, four-game series Thursday and Friday.

DELHI 21, VALLEY FORGE 0

Delhi began things with three runs in the first inning, then more than doubled their efforts in the second with eight runs off nine hits, including Mackenzie Sparacino getting two singles in the frame for three RBIs. The Broncos went on to earn their highest single-game scoring total of 2019 with four runs apiece in the third and fourth, along with two in the fifth.

Sparacino and Yesileidy Paulino each batted 3-for-3, with Sparacino earning three RBIs and Paulino earning a double and two RBIs. Dakota Baker was 2-for-4 with one double, one triple and three RBIs, as Samantha Mendelsohn was 1-or-3 with one walk and four RBIs and Shelby Nolan 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs. Molly Greene helped out her cause, going 1-for-2 at the plate with one walk and two RBIs, with Haylee Lefebvre going 2-for-5 with one double and two RBIs.

DELHI 17, VALLEY FORGE 3

Leading, 3-2, after the first inning, the Broncos settled in with seven runs in the second, three in the third and four in the fifth, and holding Valley Forge to just one run the rest of the way. Sierra Keesler turned in a highlight performance, batting 3-for-4 with two triples and seven RBIs. Mackenzie Sparacino went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, while Dakota Baker batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Lefebvre gave herself some support to get the win on the mound, going 1-for-2 with one walk and two RBIs.
