Men's Harriers Enter NAC Championships Ranked First in Pre-Championship Poll

The men's cross country team runs out of the shoot to begin the race.

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (October 31, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's cross country team enters their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships ranked first in the conference's Pre-Championship Coaches Poll. The Broncos received 78 votes and seven first-place votes. The conference championships take place this Saturday at 11:00 a.m., hosted by Northern Vermont Lyndon.

SUNY Delhi heads into their first NAC Men's Cross Country Championship as the 2018 ACAA Conference Champions and USCAA National Champions. Coached by Robb Munro, the Broncos have won three events this fall and finished third at the Division I UAlbany Invitational, setting the 5-man average 8K school record at 26:09. Abshir Yerow (Syracuse, NY / Nottingham) broke the nine-year-old school 8K record with a time of 25:07.3 in that event, and has been selected as the NAC Runner of the Week three times this fall. First-year students Seth Bywater (Cornwall, NY / Cornwall Central) and Aiden Berlinski (Unionville, NY / Minisink) have had impressive seasons, each collecting two NAC Rookie of the Week awards. Yerow and Bywater have each also captured USCAA Runner of the Week honors.

Maine Maritime received one first-place vote and 73 total points for a close second-place prediction. Thomas claimed the remaining first-place vote and 65 points for third place. Husson, the defending champions, garnered 50 points for fourth place, and SUNY Canton secured fifth place with 39 points. UMaine-Farmington and UMaine-Presque Isle are tied in sixth place with 33 points apiece. Squads from Northern Vermont-Lyndon (20 points) and Northern Vermont-Johnson (11 points) complete the poll in eight and ninth place, respectively.

The NAC Women's Cross Country Championship race will be held this Saturday, November 2, 2019 on Northern Vermont Lyndon's campus in Lyndonville, Vermont. The 8K race will begin at 11:00 a.m., which will be followed by the women's 5K race at 12:00 p.m. on the same course.
