Dower's Playoff-Clinching Efforts Earn Him First NAC Weekly Honor

WATERVILLE, Me. (April 16, 2019) – As the SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team clinched a playoff berth over the weekend, one Bronco clinched yet another NAC weekly award for the team. Freshman faceoff man Nick Dower (Oneonta, NY / Oneonta) took home NAC Rookie of the Week following his solid performances in the Broncos' road meeting at Farmingdale State on Wednesday and their 14-7 NAC win over NVU Lyndon to secure a spot in next weekend's NAC/NECC Tournament. This is the first conference weekly honor for Dower, as he became the fifth Bronco this season to earn conference honors.

Dower started off the week winning 14-of-27 faceoffs in Delhi's 15-8 defeat at Farmingdale State, as well as causing two turnovers and scooping up 11 ground balls. His spectacular play continued Saturday at NAC-opponent Northern Vermont Lyndon, as a win and a SUNY Canton victory later in the day would clinch the Broncos a tournament spot. The freshman won 20-of-25 faceoff battles, including 17 ground balls to help Delhi to a 14-7 triumph. Then with Canton defeating Husson, 16-13, late Saturday, Delhi clinched one of the two coveted NAC spots for the crossover postseason tournament with the NECC in its first year in both the NAC and NCAA Division III.

With their playoff berth locked in, Dower and the Broncos will host SUNY Canton on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m. at SUNY Oneonta in their NAC season finale, competing for the right to earn home field advantage for the NAC/NECC Tournament. The Roos are the lone remaining unbeaten team in the NAC at 6-6 overall and 4-0 in the conference. Delhi will then finish out its regular season with a road trip to Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, April 24th at 5:00 p.m.

The semifinals for the NAC/NECC Tournament will be Saturday, April 27, with the number-one NAC team hosting the number-two NECC team and vice versa. The finals will be Saturday, May 4, slated to be held at the site of the highest remaining NAC seed.
