BRIDGEWATER, Va. (March 3, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team finished out their season-opening, two-game Virginia road swing facing Bridgewater on Saturday. John Rohan III led Delhi with a pair of goals as the men fell to the Eagles by a 16-5 score to move to 0-2 on the year.

Coach Sam Miller's squad were held to just one goal in the first half, coming on a Jacob Nygard first-quarter score. Though the Broncos fought hard to stay in the game by halftime, behind, 7-1, they would eventually be outdone by seven Eagles third-quarter goals. Bridgewater ran off those goals consecutively to go ahead, 14-1. Malik Talbert got one back for Delhi with seconds left in the period. Facing their biggest deficit of the game at 16-2, Delhi closed out the game with three straight goals. Rohan scored two straight for his firsts of the season, followed by Brandon Katz with the final score.

Bridgewater held a 52-15 lead in shots, including 30-9 in shots on goal. Their defense forced Delhi into 40 turnovers, while converting on 24-of-25 clear attempts. Broncos goalie Travis Anderson totaled 14 saves, as the Broncos made the Eagles commit 21 turnovers, while clearing on 28-of-37 attempts and holding their hosts to 1-of-5 on man-up chances. Midfielder and faceoff man Nick Dower came through on eight faceoffs.

Talbert finished with one goal and three assists to bump his team-leading scoring totals to eight points on five goals and three assists. Rohan is now second with three points on three goals.
