DELHI, N.Y. (September 27, 2018) – SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse head coach Sam Miller has announced Zach Cook as his assistant coach for the 2018-19 season. Cook recently completed a stellar student-athlete career at SUNY Brockport, where he was a two-time All-SUNYAC selection. The native of Vestal, N.Y. will assist Coach Miller in Delhi's first season in NCAA Division III as the Broncos look to capture their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship.
Cook graduated from Brockport in May 2018 with his Bachelor's in Physical Education, earning his teacher and coaching certification. Playing for the Golden Eagles, he was voted a team captain his junior and senior year, and was the 2017 NCAA statistical champion with a 75.2 faceoff percentage. The midfielder served on the SUNY Brockport, SUNYAC and the National NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as the Olympic Sports Liaison Committee, SUNY Brockport Student Health Advisory Committee, and the college's SAAC E-board.
While working towards his degree, his teaching experience involved instructional, elementary and second methods, early childhood development and adapted physical education. Cook's volunteer work has included the Special Olympics, Brockport Camp Abilities Mini Camp and the Brockport Yards for Yeardley Planning Committee. He also coached at the Johns Hopkins Lacrosse Camps for two summers, instructing athletes from seventh to 12th grade on advanced skills, as well as teaching a face-off clinic.
