2016-17 SAAC Recap

Spring 2017 marks our first semester implementing the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at SUNY Delhi. Coaches in the SUNY Delhi athletic department designated representatives for each sport and a committee of 14 members was formed. During our first meeting, we elected four officers- a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. We also discussed what the SAAC is all about and what our mission is at SUNY Delhi.

The rest of our meetings for the semester were to discuss two major events for the spring. The first event took place during the USCAA Track and Field National Invitational on April 29th. Our committee bought supplies to create potted plants. We put about 12 plants together and displayed them at the event. The following day, members of each team delivered a plant to various members of the Delhi community. This gesture was received very well by the community. SAAC members also worked a snack bar at the event.

The second event took place on May 2nd during the last home athletic event at SUNY Delhi- a softball doubleheader. The SAAC held “Fan Appreciation Day” and invited members of the campus community and the Delhi community to attend. We received a generous grant from CADI and purchased hotdogs, chips, drinks and cookies to hand to fans in attendance. We had a great turnout and went through all our food. The support for the softball team was wonderful.

The SAAC discussed some key events for the fall moving forward. We are excited about creating a culture of Bronco pride at Delhi and giving back to the community as much as we can.
