Seven Broncos Take Top Spots, Three Break Course Record at Own Bronco Classic

DELHI, N.Y. (October 4, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi men's cross country team finally showcased their championship-caliber form for their home crowd Wednesday evening, as seven Broncos took the top spots on their way to winning their own Bronco Classic. Delhi won the nine-team, 5K event with 15 points, averaging a time of 16:35.24. Kobie Lane, Nicholas Arnecke and Jon Messler each broke the course record, taking the top three respective times. The race took place at the College Golf Course.

Lane, who earned his third USCAA and ACAA Athlete of the Week honor earlier this week, finished the course in 15:52.56. Arnecke finished with a time of 16:10.00, while Messler clocked in at 16:15.09. The previous course record was set by Lane last year at 16:19.

Lucas Reilly grabbed spot number four at 17:08.88, while Jack Hopkins placed fifth at 17:29.67, Ted Oster sixth at 17:36.99 and Kevin Malen seventh at 17:38.51. Behind them were James Blough (10th, 17:49.50), Michael Moran (19:19.23), Matt Scavetta (28th, 20:20.14), Keyshawn Clark-Wells (36th, 20:59.69) and Anthony Sood (57th, 25:42.26).

SUNY Delhi will be back home at the end of this month when they host the ACAA Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28. They have one more regular-season race this year at the Green Mountain College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14.
