VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (November 9, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi women's cross country team earned their highest-ever four-year national placement at Friday's USCAA National Championships with a third-place finish. After back-to-back years placing sixth, the Broncos rallied behind five top-20 finishes, led by Second-Team All-Americans Katerina Salcedo and Arielle Moheimani, to place with 75 points.

SUNY ESF won the event with 25 points, while St. Mary of the Woods took second with 62 points. The 6K event featured 11 teams and 87 runners at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.

Salcedo was the first Delhi finisher, taking 11th with a time of 25:15.71, while Moheimani was right behind her in 12th at 25:25.25. Kali Keyes placed 16th with a mark of 25:51.97, as Tristen Bowker finished 19th at 26:21.59 and Alexis Stevenson 20th at 26:31.02. Mersadie Dibbell took 26th with a mark of 27:20.09, while Brittany Patterson was number seven for the Broncos in 27th at 27:22.28. Elise McIntyre finished Delhi's day with a 29th-place finish at 27:30.33.

"The women did a great job today!" stated head coach Robb Munro. "Arielle and Kat really put themselves out there early and held on for All-American. Tristen was rock solid and Alexis had a second breakthrough race in a row! It is great to see these three seniors go out with a podium team finish!"

The Broncos' finish Friday capped off an extraordinary 2018 season. While head coach Robb Munro maintained a solid group of runners from his 2017 team, his recruiting class was also what pushed Delhi up the ranks. Salcedo and Keyes quickly emerged as two of his top runners, with Keyes earning USCAA and ACAA Athlete of the Week honors. The further development of the returners also paid great dividends, with Bowker, a senior, also earning USCAA weekly accolades. This wealth of talent translated in the Broncos winning the ACAA Championship on Oct. 27, prevailing by just one point for the team crown.

Moheimani improved upon her 23rd-place finish from last year's USCAA Championships, in which she led the team, while shaving 35 seconds off her time. Bowker jumped up tremendously from her 56th-place finish in 2017, improving by over two minutes. McIntyre climbed from her 2017 42nd-place ledger, besting her previous time by nearly 20 seconds. All of Coach Munro's remaining runners Friday made their career debut at USCAA's.
