Volleyball Sweeps Maine Presque Isle, Falls to SUNY Canton in Second NAC Challenge

CANTON, N.Y. (October 26, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team traveled to North Country Saturday for another NAC crossover date, this time against the host Roos and Maine Presque Isle. The Broncos opened their day with a 3-0 sweep over the UMPI Owls, and were defeated by the same score by Canton.

Head coach Beau Bracchy's team's second consecutive conference split puts them at 2-2 in the NAC and 10-11 overall. They stand in fourth place, behind unbeaten Maine Maritime (5-0 NAC), Northern Vermont Johnson (3-1 NAC), and SUNY Canton (3-1 NAC). The top four finishers earn a spot at the NAC Tournament, which will be held the weekend of Nov. 9-10 at the number-one seed's site.

The Broncos' upcoming final week of the regular season features two non-conference matches to start, beginning with a home match against Hartwick Monday at 6:00 p.m. and on the road at Utica Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. They then finish off their NAC slate heading to Northern Vermont Johnson Sunday to meet the host Badgers at 10:00 a.m., followed by Northern Vermont Lyndon at 2:00 p.m.

DELHI 3, MAINE PRESQUE ISLE 0

The Broncos had little to no trouble in the first two games, winning each by 25-16 scores. But they had to earn the third win in comeback fashion. Trailing by as much as 8-1 to start off set three, Delhi got itself back in the set, eventually tying it up at 15-15 and then taking the match with a 25-23 victory.

Haylee Lefebvre and Witchney Clersainville each tallied a team-best nine kills. Setter Erica Prindle gathered 27 assists, while libero Shelby Nolan led the team with 11 digs. Taylor Tsatsis finished with six kills, as Marie Julian totaled five kills.

CANTON 3, DELHI 0

A tight first two sets did not fall in the Broncos' favor, as the Roos won the first game, 25-21, and the second set, 25-22. Canton finished things off with a 25-17 victory in game three. The Roos nearly doubled the Broncos' kill total, finishing with 45 to Delhi's 23, as well as charting a .250 kill percentage to Delhi's .110.

Taylor Tsatsis led Delhi on both sides with seven kills and 12 digs. Erica Prindle totaled 17 assists, as Shelby Nolan had 11 digs. Marie Julian contributed five kills, while Haylee Lefebvre had four kills.
