Broncos Fall to Farmingdale State, MCLA as Hosts of Sunday Tri-Match

DELHI, N.Y. (September 22, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team welcomed Farmingdale State and MCLA for a tri-match on Sunday. The Broncos were defeated by the FSC Rams in the opener, 3-0, then returned in the afternoon to experience another 3-0 loss to the MCLA Trailblazers. Head coach Beau Bracchy's team, now 6-3 on the year, will be back in action on Tuesday at Mount Saint Mary at 7:00 p.m., then are home this Thursday against Mitchell at 6:00 p.m.

FARMINGDALE STATE 3, DELHI 0

The Rams took the opening game by a 25-19. The Broncos appeared poise to even things up ahead, 19-13, in the second set, but Farmingdale captured the next five points. Though Delhi earned the next two to lead, 21-18, the visitors reeled off seven straight points to go up by two sets. They followed with a 25-14 FSC victory in set three for the sweep.

Witchney Clersainville led the Broncos with five kills, while Lexi Taylor, Haylee Lefebvre and Chloe Elsenbeck each had three kills. Taylor also had 15 digs. Erica Prindle had a team-best 13 assists, as well as 11 digs. Libero Shelby Nolan charted a team-high 17 digs. The Rams tallied 12 service aces on the day to the Broncos' six.

MCLA 3, DELHI 0

The Broncos returned to the court in the afternoon to take on a Trailblazers squad that defeated the Rams three sets to one in the preceding contest. MCLA took the first two games from Delhi, 25-15 and 25-17. The ladies opened up the third set by taking the first six points and eight of the first nine. They fell victim, however, to a MCLA run that saw the visiting team earn the next five points on their way to tying the set at 10-10. Though Delhi would inch ahead with a 16-15 lead, the Trailblazers pulled out in front with five straight points to keep the lead for good on their way to a 25-21 victory.

Witchney Clersainville led the Broncos attack for the second straight game with 11 kills, as well as one solo block. Erica Prindle had 17 assists to lead the team, while tying for the team lead with nine digs, alongside Shelby Nolan and Chloe Elsenbeck. Taylor Tsatsis added eight digs, with Lexi Taylor garnering seven digs. The Trailblazers accounted for 13 service aces, while the Broncos totaled five.
