Broncos Hold Their Own Hosting ACAA Semifinals vs. Thomas More

DELHI, N.Y. (November 3, 2018) – Serving as hosts of the ACAA Women's Volleyball Tournament, SUNY Delhi put on a solid performance against Thomas More, the AVCA's seventh-ranked team in NCAA Division III. The Broncos grabbed the lead three times on the Saints, and gave the top seed a challenge in the third set that was decided by six points. Ultimately, Thomas More won the match in straight sets by 25-13, 25-10 and 25-19 scores. Head coach Beau Bracchy's team concluded their noteworthy season at 13-12.

The Broncos started the first set in impressive fashion, taking a 7-3 lead to force a Saints timeout. Thomas More, however, rebounded by taking the next nine points on their way to the 12-point set in. While Delhi took the first point in set two, the Saints grabbed four straight points and never looked back. Set three proved to be the closest game of the night. While T. More looked to have a grip early on with a 10-4 lead, the Broncos stormed back to tie the set at 14-14. The Saints, though, locked up 11 of the next 16 points to take the deciding win.

Delhi featured a balanced scoring attack. Senior Kristen Maslanka turned in her final career match tying for the team lead with five kills. Sophomore Taylor Tsatsis also recorded five kills with four digs, while freshman Witchney Clersainville was the third with five kills, along with two block assists. Libero Shelby Nolan led the team in the digs category with 12, while Erica Prindle led Delhi with 13 assists, while registering two block assists.

Head coach Beau Bracchy's 2018 team concluded the year with a 13-12 record, clinching the program's first winning record since 2010. They also improved by four games from last season's 9-19 campaign. Delhi also held a 4-2 record this season in five-set matches, including a pair of two-set comeback victories.
