DELHI, N.Y. (October 15, 2018) – After a productive two-win Sunday, the SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team hosted Utica Monday night in a rematch of their thrilling five-set comeback victory from Sept. 10. While the Pioneers repeated the trend of taking the first two sets, the Broncos were unable to answer with come-from-behind heroics, as Utica claimed a three-set victory. The Broncos, ranked sixth in the latest USCAA Division II Coaches Poll, moved to 12-7 on the year.

The first set proved to be the closest contest of the evening, where Delhi held a slim 20-19 lead. Both sides then went back and forth to a 22-22 tie before the Pioneers claimed three of the next four points for the 25-23 win. The Broncos opened the second set with a 4-1 lead, but Utica answered with five straight points and never trailed from then on. Delhi tied the set on two occasions at 7-7 and 10-10, but the Pioneers forged ahead with a 25-18 victory. Utica then grabbed a 15-9 set to open the third frame, but Delhi did not go down without a fight, as they strung together four straight points to narrow the gap at 15-13. The Pioneers, however, took ten of the next 14 points to clinch the victory, 25-17.

Taylor Tsatsis led Delhi with ten kills and ranked second with 11 assists and eight digs. Erica Prindle totaled a team-high 13 assists with eight digs, while Ashley Hintz led with 13 digs. Witchney Clersainville totaled seven kills, while Caitlyn Curcurito tallied six kills and Kristen Maslanka five kills.

Head coach Beau Bracchy's squad closes out their six-date, seven-match home stand and their home regular season on Thursday, Oct. 18, hosting Elmira at 6:00 p.m. Thursday's contest will serve as the Broncos' senior day, as they honor the graduating Maslanka, as well as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's Fan Appreciation Night. Free refreshments and giveaways will be available for those in attendance.
