DELHI, N.Y. (October 4, 2018) – It was a match 11 years in the making that did not did not disappoint SUNY Delhi women's volleyball fans Thursday evening. The Broncos welcomed SUNY Cobleskill for their first official matchup since 2007, where head coach Beau Bracchy's team quickly found themselves down by two sets after 25-21 and 25-20 wins by the Fighting Tigers. Delhi charged back to take games three and four, 25-19 and 25-17, and escaped a 14-13 fifth-set hole to rally for three straight points for the decisive 16-14 victory. The Broncos, ranked seventh in the latest USCAA Division II Coaches Poll, improved to 9-5 for their third win in four matches. This is their second win of the season coming back from a 2-0 deficit. 

While several errors may have doomed Delhi in the first two games, it did not deter the women when Cobleskill grabbed the first point in set three. The Broncos grabbed the next five points and never gave up the lead. The Fighting Tigers did close to gap to within one point on a few occasions, but ahead, 19-18, Delhi snagged six of the next seven points to force set four. The ladies led by as many as ten points in the fourth game as they cruised to the sizable win.

Cobleskill, however, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the decisive set, where Delhi calmly worked their way back in the contest with five straight points on their way to a 13-9 lead. But five straight Fighting Tigers points pitted the Broncos against the wall, behind 14-13. Following a timeout, Haylee Lefebvre tied the match with a kill, which led to two hard-fought points. The next point featured a competitive volley, resulting in a Cobleskill attack error to put Delhi back in the driver's seat. What followed was a series of 11 volleys, which culminated in another Lefebvre kill to seal the victory.

Kristen Maslanka led the contest with 12 kills and four service aces, while Lefebvre was second with 11 kills. Libero Ashley Hintz collected 35 digs to lead the match, with Erica Prindle totaling a game-high 24 assists with 18 digs. Taylor Tsatsis and Witchney Clersainville each recorded nine kills, with Tsatsis also registering 16 assists.

The Broncos will take some time over fall break to prepare for the second of their six-date home stand, a meeting with Clarks Summit, for Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7:00 p.m.
