Women's Volleyball Fifth in First USCAA Coaches Poll

USCAA COACHES POLLS – WEEK 1

NORFOLK, Va. (September 26, 2018) – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) premiered the 2018 Division II Women's Volleyball Coaches Rankings. Head coach Beau Bracchy's team debuted at number five with 230 votes after beginning their campaign at 6-4.

The Broncos opened the year winning their first two matches and five of their first six. In addition, the women are 5-0 in weekend matches, including Friday contests. They opened with a home dual match on Sunday, Sept. 2, sweeping Dean and Valley Forge, who were ranked sixth and ninth, respectively, in this week's USCAA Division I poll. The following weekend, Delhi traveled to Pine Manor for another dual match, where they beat the host Gators and Fisher. The Broncos then picked up a comeback win at Utica, where they climbed out of a two-set deficit to take a 3-2 victory over the Pioneers. The ladies' most recent win was a 3-1 win at Purchase last Friday.

Sophomore defensive specialist Ashley Hintz earned ACAA Defensive Athlete of the Week for her performance in the Broncos' pair of season-opening wins, totaling 48 digs and five service aces. Senior Kristen Maslanka leads the team with 100 kills and 141 digs, while first-year Bronco Erica Prindle is first on Delhi with 206 assists. Middle and right side hitters Witchney Clersainville and Haylee Lefebvre each lead with 16 total blocks, with Clersainville ahead with eight solo blocks.

Cincinnati Clermont led the poll with 247 votes, as Johnson and Wales Charlotte took second with 246 votes, Christendom third at 238 votes and Penn State Fayette fourth with 231 votes.

The Broncos look to build on their strong start this Sunday when they travel to Pratt for a tri match. Starting at 10:00 a.m., they will take on the Cannoneers, Culinary Institute and King's (N.Y.).
