Broncos Return Home, Fall in Fierce Five-Set Battle to Mt. St. Mary

DELHI, N.Y. (September 20, 2018) – SUNY Delhi's women's volleyball hosted Mount St. Mary on Wednesday evening, coming up just short in a thrilling five-set match. The Broncos took sets two and three to hold a 2-1 lead, but the Knights responded to take the final two games, with two points and three points deciding both sets, respectively. Delhi stands at 5-3.

The Knights quickly jumped out to take the first set, 25-16. The Broncos, nevertheless, triumphed by taking the second and third set, 25-19 and 25-21. Both teams battled it out in the fourth set, finding themselves tied at 24-24. The Knights answered, however, by taking the next two points to force the fifth set. Entering the final game, the Broncos fought to the finish, tying the match at 12-12, but Mount St. Mary captured three straight points for the 15-12 win.

Freshman Caitlyn Curcurito led the way for the Broncos with 12 kills, while sophomore Taylor Tsatsis gathered ten kills. Kristen Maslanka accumulated nine kills and a team-high 16 digs, with Erica Prindle gathering seven kills, 25 assists, and 13 digs. Ashley Hintz finished second on Delhi with 14 digs.

Head coach Beau Bracchy and the Broncos look to rebound when they travel to SUNY Purchase on Friday to take on the Panthers at 6:30 p.m.
