DELHI, N.Y. (October 28, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team closed out their 2017 season on Saturday hosting the NIAC Championship against Maine Fort Kent and Fisher in Floyd L. Maines Arena. The tournament followed a round-robin format, with the Broncos falling to the eventual champion Maine Fort Kent, 3-0, in close sets, after which they battled Fisher to four sets, coming up short in a 3-1 defeat.

Saturday's competition also saw the unveiling of the All-NIAC team, where two players from each of the participating schools were recognized for outstanding seasons. Junior outside hitter Kristen Maslanka and freshman rightside and middle hitter Taylor Tsatsis were honored for Delhi. Maslanka finished her junior campaign leading the Broncos with 184 kills, as well as breaking the school career kills record with 578. She also earned USCAA and NIAC Athlete of the Week Honors, as well as being named to the ACAA All-Academic Team. Tsatsis finished her rookie year ranked first on Delhi with 62 service aces and 39 total blocks (19 solo) and second with 157 kills.

MAINE FORT KENT 3, SUNY DELHI 0

The Broncos opened their day squaring off against the Bengals, who were fresh off a 3-0 win over Fisher and were looking to seal the championship with another win. Despite holding several leads throughout the first set, Delhi ended up on the short end of a 25-22 game. The Broncos were defeated in set two, 25-18, before nearly rallying from a 24-19 deficit in set three, coming up shy in a 25-23 defeat. Taylor Tsatsis led Delhi with nine kills, while Sarah Clapper had eight. Setter Emma King had 23 assists and 13 digs, while libero Kyoko Shimizu had a team-high 22 digs, as well as Kristen Maslanka finishing with 15 digs.

FISHER 3, SUNY DELHI 1

SUNY Delhi led in the early going, taking a 25-16 first set. Fisher responded with a 25-16 win of their own in set two, followed by a 25-19 win in set three and a 25-21 victory in set four. Taylor Tsatsis again led the Broncos with nine kills, along with four service aces and two solo blocks, while posting a .261 kill percentage and ten digs. Haylee Lefebvre finished with a .400 kill percentage, registering seven kills and one solo block. Emma King finished with 25 kills and had three kills, while libero Kyoko Shimizu led the team with 29 digs. Kristen Maslanka added five kills and 11 digs, with Madison Saleman finishing with three service aces.
