Maslanka Awarded USCAA, NIAC Athlete of the Week After Record-Breaking Performance

DELHI, N.Y. (October 15, 2017) – In what has been a historic week for the junior outside hitter, Kristen Maslanka (Pine Island, NY / Warwick Valley) was honored with both the USCAA and NIAC Athlete of the Week for her efforts. In a week that saw her average nine kills per game over four matches, Maslanka broke the school career record for kills, passing the previous record of 509 set by Kelsey Pratt from 2009-10. As of Wednesday, she currently has 527 career kills.

Against Bryn Mawr at Saturday's Utica Invitational, Maslanka's fourth of her match-high nine kills officially placed her atop the Broncos career leaderboard. The native of Pine Island, NY also tallied nine digs and three service aces to help Delhi to a 3-0 win over the Owls. In all four contests last week, Maslanka had team highs in kills, including 13 against Southern Vermont on Wednesday, seven at Mount Saint Mary on Thursday and seven at Utica on Saturday. She also averaged 9.5 digs per game in that stretch, including ten against Southern Vermont and Mount Saint Mary.
