Women's Tennis Faces Sage, Utica in Two-Day Swing

DELHI, N.Y. (September 11, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi women's tennis engaged in back-to-back non-conference meetings over the last two days, hosting Sage on Tuesday and traveling to face Utica Wednesday. The Broncos suffered a 9-0 defeat to the Gators, and fell to the Pioneers by an 8-1 score. Delhi currently stands at 0-5, and returns home for another weekend home stand, hosting NAC-foe Lesley on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and Kean in non-conference action Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

SAGE 9, DELHI 0

The Gators took 8-2 wins at two and three doubles, while winning the one doubles contest by an 8-1 scores. Sage carried its momentum into the singles competition, defeating the Broncos with 6-0 shutouts at the fourth and sixth positions. After a 6-0 first-set defeat at two singles, Mackenzie Landman fought hard in her second set, but eventually fell 6-3 to Rebecca Jackson in the closest match for the Broncos. 

UTICA 8, DELHI 1

The one doubles team of Mackenzie Landman and Jessica Biller played a strong contest versus Madeline McInlay and Morgan Willis, but came up just short, 8-6. The Pioneers went on to sweep the doubles competition with an 8-3 win at two doubles and an 8-2 victory in the three spot. Landman provided Delhi its lone "W" by taking down McInlay at one singles, 6-4 and 6-2.
