Four Tiebreakers Determine Broncos' Defeat to Utica

DELHI, N.Y. (October 3, 2018) – Four tiebreaking matches in the singles competition decided the SUNY Delhi women's tennis team's home match Wednesday against Utica. While the Broncos were victorious in the first set in all of those contests, they were unable to secure a win in the latter two frames as the Pioneers handed Delhi a 7-2 defeat.

Delhi exited the doubles contests with one victory, thanks to Katie Mach and Safiyyah Muhammad winning, 8-5, in the number-one spot. Muhammad followed with a one singles win over Madeline McIlnay, 6-4 and 6-1 to account for both of the Broncos' wins.

Katie Mach won set one, 6-4 against Bianca Bockhaus in two singles, only to fall in the later sets by 6-4 and 11-9 scores. Mackenzie Landman earned a 7-5 win in the first set over Elma Selimovic at four, but fell in the second and third, 6-1 and 10-5. Sarah Kryzston battled Selma Ahmetasevic at five singles, taking a 6-3 win in the opening game, only to fall in the later sets by 6-2 and 10-2 scores.
