Biller, Kumasaki Sweep Matches in 5-4 Win at Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (September 10, 2018) – SUNY Delhi women's tennis served up their first win of the season on Sunday, edging out a 5-4 win at Utica. The Broncos were led by Reika Kumasaki and Jessica Biller, who accounted for four of Delhi's wins through their doubles and singles matches.

Kumasaki and Safiyyah Muhammad won, 8-4, at one doubles, while Biller and Katie Mach captured an 8-4 victory at two doubles. Kumasaki followed by beating Shannon Fillmore for the second time, this time at two singles, claiming straight-set wins, 6-4 and 7-6 (8). Biller earned win number two by triumphing over Christa Pham, 7-5 and 6-4, at five singles. Hina Yanagawa accounted for the Broncos' remaining and decisive win, beating Madeline McIlnay in three singles, 6-3 and 6-1.

After three road matches to start the year, head coach Courtney Hoyt and the Broncos welcome Pratt and Bard for a pair of weekend home matches. Delhi plays the Cannoneers on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 3:00 p.m. and Bard Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2:00 p.m.
