Head Coach Zach Ward is heading into his third year as SUNY Delhi's Head Women's Soccer Coach for the 2023 season. In his first year at the helm, the Broncos achieved an impressive 11-6 record and made their first-ever NAC West Division Tournament appearance. The following year was even more remarkable, as Ward led the team to their inaugural NCAA Tournament appearance in any sport. With a thrilling storybook finish to the season, they secured seven consecutive victories, including a remarkable 3-2 overtime win in the North Atlantic Championship game, before concluding their journey in the first round of the 2022 Division III NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.

Coach Ward brings invaluable knowledge of the competition in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) to the Broncos. Previously, he served as the assistant women's soccer coach at Maine Maritime Academy, where the team triumphed in the 2019 NAC Championship.

Before joining SUNY Delhi, Ward spent a year as the assistant coach at WVU Potomac State, and prior to that, he served as an assistant at Maine Maritime Academy from 2017 to 2019. During his tenure, the Mariners achieved remarkable success with 31 wins, including 13 victories and the top seed in their journey to the 2019 NAC Championship. Interestingly, they had two intense, hard-fought, one-goal victories over SUNY Delhi, with the latter occurring in the NAC Semifinals. Ward was instrumental in coaching two conference players of the year, two defensive players of the year, multiple all-conference selections, and the program's all-time leading goal scorer. In 2019, the team set program records with 13 wins and 11 shutouts. Additionally, during this period, Ward coached at Seacoast United Soccer Club in nearby Orono, Me., and guided players to Division I, II, and III levels.

A Cumberland, Md., native, Ward graduated from Fort Hill High School in 2008 and holds a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Robert Morris University. He furthered his education by earning a Master's degree in Exercise Science/Physical Education from McDaniel College in 2013. Ward's passion for athletics and coaching led him to serve as the Athletic Director at Calvary Christian Academy from 2013 to 2017, where he also excelled as the boy's and girl's soccer coach. His boys' teams earned an impressive 54 wins, including back-to-back Mason Dixon Christian Conference titles in 2013 and 2014. The girls' team secured 29 victories and achieved a pair of third-place conference finishes in 2013 and 2014. Ward's coaching prowess even led his squads to state semifinal appearances in 2013 and 2015.

In addition to his extensive experience, Ward holds an Advanced National Diploma with United Soccer Coaches and a Level I/II/III Goalkeeping Diploma. He also possesses the United States Soccer Federation D License and is currently working towards his Premier Diploma with United Soccer Coaches.
