Scoones Saves Nine at Sage

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 9, 2019) – Two second-half Sage goals provided the difference in the SUNY Delhi women's soccer team's 2-0 road defeat to the Gators Tuesday night. Squaring off with a Sage squad that finished with a 24-9 lead in shots, two found the goal in the 57th and 85th minutes as the Broncos moved to 5-5-1 on the season.

Delhi goalkeeper Rachael Scoones finished with nine saves to counter the Gators' 11 shots on goal to the Broncos' four. Four of Scoones' saves came in the first half as both squads entered halftime with no score. Sage gathered its first goal when Natalie Ricci booted in a cross from the far side by Lydia Malkiewicz to the upper center of the goal at 56:47. After several chances to extend their lead, the Gators fired a series shots in Scoones' direction, where Maegan Villa scored off a rebound at 84:05.
