ALBANY, N.Y. (October 16, 2018) – Two first-half goals pitted the SUNY Delhi women's soccer team in an early hole at Sage Tuesday afternoon. While the Delhi defense shut out the Gators the rest of the way, the Broncos were unable to cut into the home team's lead as they suffered just their second defeat of the year by a 2-0 score. SUNY Delhi stands at 9-2 on the year.

Sage got on the board early at the 5:20 mark when Joleen Marfone cleanly headed in a corner kick from Hallie Klosterman. The Gators struck again at 30:17, when Kristen Silk retrieved a loose ball in the box to connect for what would be the second and final score of the day.

Scoones finished with nine saves to boost her season total to 50, and has now given up just seven goals through eight starts. The freshman moved to 5-2 on the year.

Tuesday's contest came hours after the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) announced SUNY Delhi as the third seed for the conference tournament, set to take place at Finlandia University in Hancock, Mich. The Broncos will play second-seed Alfred State in the league semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1:00 p.m. Delhi defeated the Pioneers earlier this season, 3-2.

Head coach Lauren Mackay's team has three more matches to close out their regular season, with their next contest being their home finale against Bryant & Stratton Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's game also marks the team's senior day, where the Broncos are set to honor seven graduating players: Devin Baratto, Esther Ferrusi, Samantha Friedman, Katie Herba, Tiffany Leigh, Alexis Moore and Jacqueline Slentz.
