Women Begin Year with 4-0 Win at Pratt

RANDALL'S ISLAND, N.Y. (September 1, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team opened their season in satisfying fashion Friday evening with a 4-0 win against Pratt at Randall's Island Park. The Broncos scored all four of their goals in the first half, thanks to a dominating offensive attack that outshot the Cannoneers by a 12-1 margin.

Delhi wasted no time as Katie Herba, last year's team-leading scorer, got the team on the board with an early goal at the one-minute mark. That quick effort was echoed by freshman Alexa Scaglione, who connected for her first career goal from an assist by Herba just a few minutes later. Devin Baratto followed with a score of her own from Kaitlin McGuiness near the halfway point of the first half, then newcomer Kelsey Innes earned her first score as a Bronco a couple of moments later.

Goalkeepers Jessica Shultis and Samiaya Salley split time in goal, with Shultis earning the win and Salley collecting one save in a shutout performance.

Head coach Lauren Mackay and the Broncos look to keep their momentum going when they open their home season on Sunday for an afternoon match with Alfred State at 3:00 p.m.
