Women's Soccer Concludes Season at NIAC Semifinals Against Fisher

MEDFORD, Mass. (November 4, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's soccer squad gave it all they had in Saturday's NIAC Semifinals match versus Fisher. A first-half equalizer from Stephanie Mason had the match tied a 1-1 at the half, but three unanswered goals from the Falcons handed the Broncos a 4-1 defeat, concluding their 2017 season, and their first under head coach Lauren Mackay.

Fisher outshot Delhi, 37-15, and 24-10 in shots on goal, but goalkeeper Jacqueline Slentz came through with a career-best 20 saves to keep the match within reach. Forward Katie Herba led the Broncos with four shots on goal, with Emily Guerra and Brianna Volans each recording two shots on goal.

Falcon Julia Schojan recorded a hat trick on the day, with her first giving her team a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute, assisted by Amanda Santiago. Powered by 11 first-half saves from Slentz, the Broncos held the Falcons scoreless for the remainder for the half. That set the stage for Mason's score in the 23rd minute that sent both sides to halftime tied a 1-1. But in the 49th minute, Schojan came back with her second score of the day, assisted by Reilly Demers, that put Fisher back in the lead. Delaney McNulty gave the Falcons a two-goal lead in the 57th minute, assisted by Wilnette Memeus, while Schojan finished the scoring with her third of the day, assisted by Memeus in the 87th minute.
