Broncos' Two-Goal Rally Comes Up Short in Defeat to Fisher

DELHI, N.Y. (October 21, 2017) – Down in a 2-0 hole early in the second half, the undeterred SUNY Delhi women's soccer team used their heads, literally, to come back to tie the match at 2-2. The comeback attempt would come up short as a go-ahead Falcons score at minute 78 handed Delhi a 3-2 NIAC defeat.

The Falcons' Julia Schojan scored the first two goals of the contest. Her first came in the 27th minute, followed by an early second-half score in the 51st minute to give Fisher a 2-0 lead. The Broncos charged back several minutes later with quick, back-to-back header scores in the 59th and 60th minute to knot the match up. The first came from Chade Mason, who collected her first score of the year heading in a cross from Katie Herba, while Herba tied the match with a header of her own off a cross from Shannon Murphy. The match remained tied for another 18 minutes, before Fisher's Wilnette Memeus delivered what would be the game-winning score for the Falcons.

Keeper Jacqueline Slentz finished with six saves, with her defense backing her up with two team saves. In an evenly paced contest, both sides finished with 15 saves and each had six corner kicks. The Falcons, however, led with 11 shots on goal to Delhi's five.
