Three Quick Second-Half Scores Trips Delhi Against Florida National

DELHI, N.Y. (September 29, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team hosted Florida National in an afternoon contest on Friday. While the Broncos were very much in the game at halftime, trailing, 1-0, the Conquistadors opened the second half with three scores in the first eight minutes as they pulled away to hand Delhi a 5-1 defeat.

Broncos keeper Jacqueline Slentz kept Delhi in the match in the first half with six first-half saves. The only score given up in the half was an Eileen Garcia goal at 40:07, assisted by Annie Shiela Power. Florida National got to work early in the second, where back-to-back Jurema Borini scores at 46:38 and 48:57 and another from Isabela Martins off a free kick at 52:08 saw Delhi behind, 4-0. The Broncos got one back when Lenore Aponte scored her first goal of the year, assisted by Chade Mason at 71:27, but another Borini score at 89:05 closed out the scoring.

Slentz finished with eight saves on the afternoon, while Conquistador Savannah Laster finished with three saves. The Broncos were outshot, 21-7, including 13-4 in shots on goal. Aponte accounted for two of those shots on goal, with Emily Guerra and Brianna Volans tallying the remaining two.
