Delhi Drops 1-0 Overtime Contest at Canton

CANTON, N.Y. (September 17, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team played host SUNY Canton to a scoreless regulation on Sunday, but the silence was broken on Roos Madison Rowe's game-winner in the 96th minute that handed the Broncos a 1-0 overtime defeat. The match marked Delhi's fifth match in eight days, and its second overtime loss in three matches, as the Broncos fell to 3-4. Canton climbed to 4-1.

The Roos outshot the Broncos, 14-9, with Delhi's Jacqueline Slentz tallying one save on the afternoon to go along with two team saves. Liana Garry tallied Delhi's only shot on goal, while Canton had four. Regulation was plagued with several near-misses that could have resulted in scores for either side. Arguably the most poignant of these for the Broncos came in the second half. A cross from Katie Herba that deflected off a Canton player inside the box towards the net, only to land just inches from the goal line and backspin away from the net. Delhi was undone on Canton's seventh corner kick of the day, when Rowe found the back of the net off a scramble at 95:25.
