Garry Scores, Slentz Saves 11 in 6-1 Defeat at Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa. (September 12, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team traveled to Keystone on Tuesday looking for their third straight win. Despite a first-half score from Liana Garry and 11 saves from Jacqueline Slentz, the Broncos were unable to overcome a 34-9 deficit in shots as they dropped a 6-1 decision to the Giants. Delhi dropped to 2-2, while Keystone climbed to 1-3-1.

Keystone grabbed the first two scores of the day in the first five minutes for an early 2-0 lead. Garry brought the Broncos back within one with an unassisted score in the ninth minute. The match remained that way for nearly the next 30 minutes, before the Giants' Jayleen Galeno put Keystone back up by two heading into halftime. Back-to-back scores by Amber Smith and a final score from Hannah Richner accounted for Keystone's scores in the second half.

The Broncos finished with three shots on goal, while the Giants tallied 18 on goal. Delhi finished with 12 total saves, with 11 from Slentz and one team save as the sophomore fell to 2-2. Keystone goalie Haley Gobla picked up the win playing the first half to stand 1-0, before handing over net duties to Sarah Heintz and Rebekah Shepherd in the second.
