LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (January 7, 2020) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team experienced their first defeat of 2020 Tuesday at the hands of a 73-55 decision at Northern Vermont Lyndon. Though the Broncos totaled their third straight game with three scorers in double figures, it was not enough this time to lift them to a win as they moved to 3-12 on the year, stalling a two-game win streak.

Delhi went toe-for-toe with the Hornets in the first quarter, as Sam Acuna's layup in the final moments put the team up, 17-15, at the quarter break. Lyndon, however, outscored the Broncos, 22-13, in the second period, including scoring the final seven points of the half to lead, 37-30, at intermission. The hosts kept on the attack in the second half, widening their lead to as much as 22 points before the final buzzer.

Sam Acuna and Diana Echols led the Broncos with 14 points apiece, with Acuna accounting for four rebounds and Echols six rebounds. Katelyn lewis roped in 12 points and a team-best eight boards, while Samiaya Salley netted six points, five rebounds, and four assists. Camryn McDonald recorded four points, six rebounds, and six assists, while Carissa Crandall notched three points and five rebounds.

The Broncos made 37.9 percent shooting (22-for-58) and connected on 3-of-12 threes and 8-of-10 free throws. The Hornets finished at 36.4 percent (28-for-77), 9-of-31, and 8-of-12, respectively. Delhi was guilty of 24 turnovers, which Lyndon converted into a 26-10 lead in points off turnovers. NVUL held a slim 45-40 lead in rebounds, but a substantial 20-12 lead in offensive boards that earned them a 19-8 lead in second-chance points.

Head coach Lauren McRoberts' team returns home this Saturday for a meeting with Maine Fort Kent at 12:00 p.m. The Broncos head back up north east next week for a tour of Maine, visiting Maine Maritime on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7:00 p.m. and Husson Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 3:00 p.m.
