PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. (February 2, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team continued its ACAA season Saturday with a meeting at Valley Forge. The Broncos fell behind early on the host Patriots and were unable to catch up, also due in part to UVF making 12 3-pointers, including seven from Carlee Conrad, in a 76-54 defeat. Head coach Courtney Hoyt's team suffered their third consecutive defeat to stand at 11-9 on the season, and 3-2 against ACAA opponents.

Saturday's game was a rematch of the two teams' first meeting this season at SUNY Delhi back on Dec. 1, in which the Broncos claimed an 80-76 victory over the Patriots. A recent string of injuries also played a factor in the Broncos' lineup Saturday, as just six Broncos took the court. 

Valley Forge opened the game on a 10-0 run, while the Broncos were held to ten points apiece in the first and second quarters as the Patriots led at halftime by a 47-20 score. Delhi didn't get any closer than 23 points of UVF's lead the rest of the way, with the Patriots stretching their lead to as much as 37 points. Conrad's seven triples led to her scoring a game-high 29 points. 

The Broncos totaled five 3-pointers, with Kiera Holland making 4-of-7 on her way to a team-best 22 points, along with seven rebounds and four assists. Diana Echols grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go with five points, while Samiaya Salley tallied 17 points with six rebounds and Katelyn Lewis six points with ten boards. Brenna Gioffe added five rebounds with two points.

The women made 31.0 percent from the field (22-for-71) and 5-of-15 threes, while UVF made 39.0 percent (30-for-77) and 12-of-24, respectively. Salley accounted for all of Delhi's bench points, where she alone outscored the Patriots' bench by a 17-12 margin. UVF held a 50-42 lead in rebounds, 18-9 in second-chance points and 32-24 in points in the paint. While Delhi scored 14 points off 19 Valley Forge turnovers, the Broncos were guilty of 22 turnovers that the Patriots cashed in for 17 points.

Coach Hoyt's squad plays three of their four remaining regular season games this week, starting with a road meeting at Purchase on Monday, Feb. 4. The ladies then come home on Wednesday to face Cazenovia at 7:00 p.m. as part of SUNY Delhi Athletics' Gold Night. First 500 fans will receive a free t-shirt, courtesy of the SUNY Delhi Health & Counseling Services, Student Senate, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. They finish out their week traveling to take on Alfred State on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 2:00 p.m.
