DELHI, N.Y. (January 25, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team's home success took a brief back seat on Friday when they welcomed Maine Fort Kent, who left Floyd L. Maines Arena improving to 17-3 by handing the Broncos a 79-60 defeat. Despite Samiaya Salley and Diana Echols leading the game with 26 points and 16 rebounds, respectively, head coach Courtney Hoyt's team moved to 11-7 on the year and 6-2 at home.

While Delhi held a 47-42 lead in rebounds and made nine 3-pointers to the Bengals' three, the Broncos were done in by committing a season-high 26 turnovers, which MFK translated into 30 points. The ladies were also outshot by the Bengals, making 32.2 percent (19-for-59) to the visitors' 43.2 percent (32-for-74).

Maine Fort Kent took control almost instantly, and led, 26-13, after one quarter. The Broncos were guilty of their first nine turnovers in the opening period. Delhi answered back in the second by keeping up with their guests from the Northeast, holding their first-quarter deficit at halftime, behind 42-29. This led to an 11-4 Delhi run to start the third, as they cut the Bengals' lead down to 46-40 near the halfway point of the period. The Broncos, however, made just one point for the remainder of the quarter, as MFK closed out the period on a 15-1 run.  The women got no closer than 17 points of Maine Fort Kent in the final quarter.

Salley racked up her seventh 20-point game this season by way of making four 3-pointers and 8-of-10 free throws, as well as totaling five rebounds and four assists. Echols, who also tied a game-best with seven offensive boards, narrowly missed out on a double-double, scoring nine points, as did Kiera Holland with nine points and eight rebounds. Sam Acuna made four threes on the evening to finish with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.

With seven regular-season games to play, the Broncos enter the final stretch looking at locking up postseason spots, including the ACAA Tournament and USCAA Tournament. They have three games next week, starting at Bay Path on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 8:00 p.m., followed by two ACAA contests. The ladies, currently 3-0 versus ACAA opponents, look to remain unbeaten in conference play hosting Alfred State on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 6:00 p.m., then traveling to take on Valley Forge next Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1:00 p.m.
